The Kabbalah Centre in Sao Paolo, Brazil is flourishing! With recent visits from Karen Berg, as well as a visit from the Rav over Lag B’Omer, students have traveled from all over South America to unite in the consciousness and share in the excitement.
The actual physical location of The Kabbalah Centre in Sao Paulo may not be particularly big but the energy and commitment of those at the Centre more than makes up for it; the growing number of people and students are in no way deterred by simple architecture. Online services provide an immediate link to classes, events and the consciousness of Kabbalah throughout Brazil. In fact, the number of students signing up for the online Kabbalah University has grown exponentially in the past 6 months.
The Kabbalah Centre in Brazil has a major stake in the future of its people, and they will stop at nothing to reach out – case in point, Projeto Jovem Consciente. Directly translated to the Youth Awareness Project, Projeto Jovem Consciente is a social action promoted by the Brazil Centre. Their mission is to raise awareness while inspiring and encouraging the personal development of young Brazilians between the ages of 15 and 30. Since December 2011, Projeto Jovem Consciente has distributed over 50,000 copies of Yehuda Berg’s The Power of Kabbalah in partnership with educational institutions and business organizations. Their goal is to distribute 400,000 free books at universities, shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, libraries, clubs, companies and banks – all by the end of 2012.
Every week there are efforts taking place in different parts of Brazil, at universities or even on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro; volunteers hand out books to various organizations to help spread and share the wisdom of Kabbalah – all of which is part of the ongoing Projeto Jovem Consciente initiative.
While Rav Berg was in Sao Paulo over Lag B’Omer, he was able to assist in the project. Projeto Jovem Consciente recently participated in a fair in Sao Paulo. The Rav opened a booth with fellow volunteers, helping university students with insights into their possibilities of work and futures after finishing their studies. Within 3 days The Kabbalah Centre of Sao Paulo had given out 12,191 Power of Kabbalah books as part of a bigger project to help increase the consciousness of young adults through the wisdom of Kabbalah, and help them understand the core principals of spirituality.
In May, students came from far and wide to celebrate Lag B’Omer with the Rav. In fact, the Sao Paulo Centre had the largest amount of people ever congregated in their space. With 500 students in attendance, both auditoriums were utilized to accommodate everyone, and the Rav spent time in each room.
The Brazil Centre also had a booth in the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development on June 20-22nd, in which Power of Kabbalah books were distributed. Rio+20 seemed the perfect location since this is where world leaders, along with thousands of participants from governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs, which refers to organizations that are not part of the government and are not conventional for-profit businesses), and other groups, unite to outline many world issues and hopefully find the solutions that are necessary to protect the environment and enable each and every human being to live in a world free from chaos, poverty and need.
Earlier this year, Karen Berg addressed an audience of 500 people, mostly students of the Sao Paolo and Rio Centres, at the Rebouças Convention Centre in Brazil. This was an introductory seminar about spirituality at its core, and the purpose and understanding behind the tools Kabbalah teaches. The impact of the lecture seemed to touch many lives, as illustrated by a student’s testimonial:
“I feel very grateful to witness the Centre in Brazil growing so fast! From all the people who came to Karen’s lecture, many of them had never been to a Kabbalah presentation before. Nevertheless, I am sure that her teachings were fully understood and absorbed by each and every one of us. The main subject of the panel, putting spirituality into practice, is a simple, yet crucial theme in our spiritual road. “Simple Light”, as she says! She talks directly to our hearts!” -Maria Emilia
Karen’s trip to Sao Paolo coincided with the re-launch of her book God Wears Lipstick (a revised version of the Portuguese translation), further enabling Karen to connect with the local Kabbalah Centre community as they welcomed in the New Moon (Rosh Chodesh) of Aries. Over 280 students joined Karen for Shabbat and Rosh Chodesh, and lunch the next day.
The Brazilian Kabbalah community is growing, in numbers and in spirit, and demonstrates a profound desire to manifest change in this world. With all of these developments and endeavors, Brazil is on its way to revealing ever greater amounts of Light, this year and in those to come.
